About Soroptimist

With over 100,000 members in 120 countries and territories, it’s easy to understand why Soroptimist International has an impact on the lives of women and girls all around the world. Our history is built around the words “The Best for Women.” Words backed by the mission of helping women and girls to achieve the best for their lives. SIA (Soroptimist International of the Americas) responds to all world disasters, funds local issues and supports individual women and girls through grants for education. To quote our new president Victoria Hobbs in her President’s Message, “Until all women and girls are educated, they will be denied basic opportunities to lead full and productive lives.” In the international area we assist in the building of schools and providing educational materials and responding the disasters. Locally we give grants to outstanding female students to help with their continuing education and increase their self esteem by acknowledging their accomplishments.

These projects are funded by the hundreds of local clubs. The goal of every club is to improve the quality of living for women and girls. We achieve this by increasing communities’ awareness of the presence of Soroptimist International of the Americas by supporting local causes and activities. By contributing to global and local needs that address the issues of women and girls. And by fundraising activities that are designed to both acknowledge needs in the local communities as well as increasing awareness about SIA.
