THINKING GLOBALLY,
ACTING LOCALLY

Every four years, Soroptimists choose a new project which all members support.
Recent Soroptimist projects have:

    • Prevented child blindness in Bangladesh (Sight Savers)
    • Supported and trained young Thai villagers to provide alternatives to joining the sex industry in the cities (SIAM)
    • Assisted victims of land mines through provision of artificial limbs (Limbs for Life)

Soroptimist International's current international project is Project Independence: Women Survivors of War.

The current project, in partnership with Women for Women International, will assist women who have been victims of war in three countries:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bosnia
  • Rwanda

The project will provide:

  • direct aid and support through the Sponsorship Program
  • training in vocational and leadership skills through the Renewing Women's Life Skills Program
  • loans to establish income-generating projects through the Microcredit Lending Program.
